The Tour des Canadiens or
Canadians Tower is the first of a multi-phase condominium
tower development located in the immediate vicinity of the
Bell Center, home of the famouns NHL team, the Montreal
Canadians. The tower was named after the team and was even
honoured with its badge which it proudly displays at its
very top for all to see.
The Tour des Canadiens was
completed in the second half of 2016. Its address is 1288
Ave. Des Canadiens. Aside from its name and location next to
the Bell Center, the Tour des Canadiens boasts some
impressive facilities. It has a games room with a pool table
and Hockey foosball tables, a dry and wet sauna, an outdoor
pool with common area terrace and BBQs and also what is
probably the best gym that can be found in any building in
the city.
The Tour des Canadiens is well located. The
whole area is being rapidly developed around a commercial
construction (planned) called the Windsor Quad which will
bring thousands of jobs to the building's immediate
vicinity. It is a 5 minute walk from St Catherine street,
Montreal's main shopping street, and from the subway's green
line. However it is located just one block away from Lucien
Lallier subway station on the orange line which offers easy
access to the Old Port and Le Plateau in the Downtown east
area.
The units come in several layouts that would be
much too long to describe in detail so you may request more
information on plans and layouts. However whilst some units
are cleary well designed, others are quite poorly designed
for $700 a square foot. Worthy of note is that nearly all
the units have impressive views of the South East and South
west of the city.
PROS: Some clever
design work for the units and the Canadians' namesake will
always be a source of attraction for this builing. It is
also Air B&B friendly for those who would purchase as an
investment.
CONS: Questionable
finishings and floorplans, only one pool and outdoor at that
which in Montreal and in a building with over 500
residences, is a poor effort. The Air B&B issue has drawn a
lot of bad press but obviously only from those who didn't
purchase for that purpose. |
